In “The price of Snowden” by China expert and historian Jonathan Fenby, the impacts of Snowden’s actions on Sino-US relations. It’s probably worth remembering that this issue is playing out within the much larger context of international cyberwarfare and security, including not only governments but non-state actors and the lives of ordinary citizens. Very few laws are in place regarding the issue of cyber security across borders, largely due to the states on this issue being pitted against a public that sees its privacy and freedom threatened.
This is a little belated in terms of the news cycle, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that a historians whose work I closely studied in school has a blog on China. Definitely worth keeping track of.
